If you don’t know who Rupi Kaur is, you should definitely look her up. She’s a feminist writer and artist from India who’s currently based in Toronto, and she’s incredibly talented. Her book, “Milk and Honey” is a collection of short poems and illustrations that seem to perfectly encapsulate so many emotions and relevant issues, in particular feminist themes. So why am I going off on a tangent about Rupi Kaur? One of her poems in particular stands out to me.
“we all move forward when
we recognize how resilient
and striking the women
around us are”
I think everyone in general struggles with being supportive and happy for everyone, but women in particular seem to struggle with fully supporting each other. It is important for us all to make an effort to lift each other up, and I’m constantly inspired by the lovely and bad ass ladies I’m surrounded by. Because of this, I wanted to share and learn more about amazing women everywhere, and thus, the It Girl Series is born. I’ll be interviewing different women about their passions, their inspirations, and more in the hopes of spreading girl power around and inspiring other women! So look forward to hearing about some pretty cool ladies, and feel free to suggest anyone you want to be interviewed as well!
